2017 Date Confirmed!

Howzit, heita and hi again!

We’ve got great news – the date for our 2017 event has been confirmed, and it’s November 25th.

As with the past 2 years, you can expect a day filled with opportunities for members of the Obs community and surrounds to get involved – and also for a wide range of artists, art studios, performers and street activists to fill the streets of our hood with colour and creativity.

This year’s event will also see our event fooptprint change in two important areas: the Obs Community Hall and its grounds will be filled with a range of exhibitions and activities for the first time, and discussions are underway with business owners at the eastern end of Lower Main Rd for their area to be enlivened with music and activities.

Residents in the area, please note that roads crossing Lower Main between Darien Square and Main Rd will NOT be subject to road closures. This is to ensure that residents on Cranko, Norfolk, Sussex, Wrensch and Bowden Roads are not inconvenienced. To ensure smooth flow of traffic for all concerned, Metro Traffic marshalls will be stationed at every crossroad along Lower Main.

Of course, none of the many activities planned for this year’s event happen without the assistance of a number of Obs-based organisations, residents – and businesses. The Streetopia team will, as they have each year since 2015, be contacting and informing all stakeholders of developments and plans – and anyone is welcome to contact the team by mailing streetopia@afrikaburn.com for queries of any nature.

  1. My band, ‘Southbound’, would very much like to play again on the stage on the Village Green, if you are having this again this year. After paying our dues last year, a mid afternoon time-slot with the potential of a bigger crowd would be appreciated!
